Intro

As seen in my motorhome page, I wanted to make my own minimalist motorhome.
The main aspects are described here; as usual, the result did not exactly match the plans, but what matters is that it works for me: I am able to spend a couple of night in the wild, and I can quickly and easily revert to a "normal" van.
This was never about making a permanent motorhome for long trekking like other projects.
I finally settled for a Ford grand Tourneo, which is the same as the MaxiCaddy made by VW (common platform). However, the Ford is cheaper.
The furniture consists of a couch/bed, a folding table, and a shelf.
Storage is mostly under the bed and on the shelf.

Overview:

  • van 00
    The van.
  • van 01
    The bed and table.
  • van 02
    The bed and table.
  • van 03
    Storage (and partof insulation).

And that’s it ! All you need in 4m².
The advantage is that you can’t see it is a motorhome, so you are not bound by the restrictions they face in many countries.
Yes, you don’t have much space, but I have rented motorhomes before and I realized you are hardly ever in, except to sleep or drive. I have invested in a radioportable solar DAB radio that doubles as light, and I have a portable PC with the phone for internet connection, the tablet for movies.
